Protest erupts again over man killed by deputies in Minneapolis

According to authorities, the suspect was in a parked vehicle when he "failed to comply and produced a handgun resulting in task force members firing upon the subject". State investigators said a handgun and spent cartridge found inside the auto indicate that the man also fired his gun.

Family and friends called for the release of all footage from security and surveillance cameras in the area along with information about the officers involved.

Minneapolis police were not involved in the incident, the newspaper reported.

In case there's any remaining doubt that some woke mouthpieces are far more interested in the acts of protesting and rioting than the people they're supposedly standing up for, let's have a look at a video of one protester who hit the streets of Minneapolis Thursday night after USA marshals fatally shot 32-year-old Winston Boogie Smith, who was wanted for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Agents with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were headed to the scene along with officials from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, local media reported.

That person died at the scene.

State investigators said a 27-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries from glass debris.

As word of the shooting spread, a crowd of protesters formed Thursday afternoon.

Later in the night, people vandalized "numerous" buildings and looted some, Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder said in an email to reporters early Friday.

Police stand guard after rioters set fire to dumpsters in Minneapolis, Minn., on June 5, 2021.

Nine people were arrested on charges that ranged from arson, assault and damage to property, police said.

According to WCCO-TV, the shooting occurred about 2:10 p.m. Thursday at a parking ramp where the marshals' task force, in several vehicles, confronted a man sitting with a woman in a parked auto. Shelly Hopkins, who was in a longtime relationship with Smith, told The Associated Press that despite any mistakes Smith has made, he didn't deserve to be killed. "I don't know exactly what happened". And he didn't deserve that. "He had the best heart out of anybody I've ever met in my life". Hughes said Smith doesn't carry a gun, and police "obviously gunned him down wrongly and they're trying to cover it up".

They are demanding transparency in the investigation and have asked that anyone who might have video footage to come forward.

Tensions have run high in the city since May 2020 when George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, was killed by a white Minneapolis police officer, sparking global protests about racial inequality and police brutality.
