Ex-Cuomo aide publishes account of alleged sexual harassment

New York Assemblyman Ron Kim (D) continued his push to impeach Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) over COVID deaths in state nursing homes.

"As a former employee rights attorney, I have represented far too many women who have been subjected to sexual harassment in the workplace". According to Boylan, the governor "stepped in front" of her as she was leaving his office and kissed her on the lips.

Boylan said she long "tried to excuse" the governor's behavior, but no longer could after he gave her an unsolicited kiss during a private meeting at his New York City office.

The Democratic governor is facing calls for an investigation after Lindsey Boylan - who worked as a special advisor to Cuomo in 2018 - charged in an essay published to Medium Wednesday that Cuomo asked her to play strip poker and kissed on the lips without her permission.

"He said look up Lisa Shields". You could be sisters. "I was in shock, but I kept walking", Boylan wrote. In an essay posted to Medium on Wednesday, the former staffer accused the governor of going "out of his way" to touch her "lower back, arms and legs", and kissing her during a one-on-one meeting. "His senior staff began keeping tabs on my whereabouts".

Cuomo has denied the allegations. "But it's just not true". She says she called her husband and texted her mother as she was summoned to the executive chamber after successfully avoiding the governor at a gathering. "He paused at one point and smirked as he showed off a cigar box".

"The two-decade-old reference to President Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky was not lost on me", she adds. Girouard said Boylan's recollection of a 2017 flight on the governor's jet - on which she alleged he suggested playing strip poker - can not be true because the flight logs do not match her account of who was on board.

Cuomo spokeswoman Caitlin Girouard issued a one-line response to the allegations.

Cuomo's office said in a statement carried by USA media that Boylan's "claims of inappropriate behavior are quite simply false".

Boylan, now running for Manhattan borough president, recently mounted an unsuccessful bid against Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-Manhattan, Brooklyn).

Boylan says she was offered a promotion in 2018, to become deputy secretary for economic development and special advisor to the governor.

In her post, Boylan included a screenshot of an email she said shereceived in which an aide to Cuomo wrote that the governor suggested she look up a photo of a woman he was rumored to have dated.

Cuomo said many governors felt they did not receive the support they needed while on the front lines of the pandemic over the past year, calling the new relationship with the Biden administration a "functional partnership".

Nothing in Boylan's essay suggests she was alone on the flight, just who was sitting near her.

The governor was already under intense scrutiny over an investigation by the New York State Attorney General's office that found his administration had undercounted COVID-19 deaths of nursing home residents by as much as 50%. All allegations of sexual harassment must be given a thorough and independent investigation. "His inappropriate behavior toward women was an affirmation that he liked you, that you must be doing something right".
