'Multiple deaths' reported after Louisiana gun range shooting

A man walked into a gun range and outlet store with a loaded weapon unholstered and an altercation ensued, according to local media.

Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said the shooter initially hit two people inside, and then several other people - whether employees or store customers - opened fire on the shooter, both inside and outside of the building.

Shots were fired during the argument when at least two customers on the range engaged the man, sources told WDSU. In total, three people died during the shooting.

A reporter for the New Orleans Advocate reported seeing two separate "shields" set up in the parking lot, which are 'typically used to block bodies from view'. "A person's motionless hand was visible at the edge, and a pistol with an extended magazine lay nearby on the ground", NOLA reported.

A Louisiana sheriff's office says three people have been killed in a shooting at a gun store in a New Orleans suburb.

Police said when deputies arrived at the scene of the shooting at around 2:50 p.m. local time (3:50 p.m. ET), they found multiple people with gunshot wounds.
