Snowfall Warning in effect for southern Perth County

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Ottawa and parts of eastern Ontario, calling for up to 25 centimetres of snow by Tuesday morning.

"The first one is expected to begin overnight or early Monday morning with 5 centimetres of snow expected by afternoon", EC said in a news release Sunday.

The snow is predicted to be light for the rest of Family Day, with heavier snow expected to arrive in the evening and lasting until Tuesday morning. Visibility may be reduced at times of heavy snow and surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots may be "difficult to navigate". "Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become hard to navigate due to accumulating snow", the advisory read.

Through the week, temperatures are expected to hover around minus seven to minus five, with mostly cloudy conditions. A high of -7 is in the forecast for Tuesday but wind chill values will make it feel like -18.

Things are expected to warm up later this week, with high temperatures approaching the freezing mark.
