Milan sign Mandzukic on Ibrahimovic-style six-month deal

According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan are set to complete the double signing of English defender Fikayo Tomori and Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic.

He returns to Italy with league leaders Milan on a free transfer, where he will spend the next six months.

The 34-year-old is expected to link-up with the Italian side soon (covered by TheSerieA last week) and will bring the experience of winning Serie A to a team that is already littered with quality and experience.

He won a Champions League title with Bayern Munich in 2013 and scored for Juventus in a 4-1 loss in the 2017 final against Real Madrid.

Given Ibrahimovic has only just returned from injury, scoring twice on his return in Monday's win over Cagliari, the presence of Mandzukic will provide Pioli with the opportunity to rotate his starting XI.

These two signings could prove to be pivotal for AC Milan as they look to recapture the Serie A title come the summer.

Mandzukic left Juve for Al-Duhail in 2019 but departed the Qatari side by mutual consent last July. Mandzukic could be in the squad for both of those games. "The club is ambitious again, the arrival of Mandzukic goes in that direction", Pioli said after Monday's win at Cagliari which allowed his outfit to retain top spot. The likes of Alexandre Pato, Mattia Destro, Andre Silva, Fernando Torres and Gonzalo Higuain have all failed to sparkle in the No.9 shirt.

"I'm happy with my decision, if Inter win the league I'll be happy for them".
