Dustin Diamond hospitalized amid cancer battle

Saved by the Bell's Dustin Diamond has been hospitalized in Florida, and TMZ is saying sources are concerned he may have cancer.

As TMZ reports, Diamond was admitted to hospital in Florida this past weekend due to "pain all over his body and a general sense of unease", the publication writes. His medical team are running several tests and believe it is likely cancer.

A spokesperson for the actor confirmed to TheWrap that Diamond has been hospitalized but was unable to provide any update on his condition. Although Diamond's Screech was not included in the recent Saved by the Bell revival for Peacock, he was key to the original run of the series, particularly as the comic relief.

Dustin originated the role of Samuel "Screech" Powers on Good Morning, Miss Bliss, the 1988 Disney Channel sitcom that became Saved By The Bell.

The actor was also part of the movie Saved By The Bell: Hawaiian Style in 1992 and the sequel Saved By The Bell: The College Years the following year.

Diamond rose to fame in the '90s as one of the stars of the original "Saved By the Bell".
