Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Announced

NVIDIA notes that its 60-class GPUs are some of the most popular cards on Steam, and the RTX 3060 is positioned as the ideal upgrade for those on the GTX 1060 or older cards.

If you've been waiting for a more budget-focused option in the RTX 30 series, there's reason to be excited: NVIDIA just announced the RTX 3060, and it brings a lot of features to the table for just $329. Additionally, the 3rd gen tensor cores are also claimed to be 2x more capable compared to last-gen GPUs based on the Turing architecture. And thanks to support for the proprietary NVIDIA Reflex technology, the new laptop GPUs are said to further reduce latency and boost responsiveness.

Outside of performance enhancements, the new graphics cards come with improvements to NVIDIA's existing Max-Q technologies. They will bring along a Dynamic Boost 2.0 feature that optimizes the maximum performance. The resizable BAR is an "advanced PCI Express technology that enables all of the GPU memory to be accessed by the CPU at once." . This feature will be available via driver updates.

Nvidia has unveiled the GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and the RTX 3060 Max-Q GPU for gaming laptops. Zotac has yet to share any price details, but the new cards look to offer the company's own take on cooling and overclocking, and we're sure that others will follow suit with their own card reveals in the weeks leading up to release.

According to NVIDIA, the laptop version of the RTX 3060 can deliver performance in the ballpark of 90 frames per second at 1080p and ultra settings in games like Fortnite, and will be available in laptops that start at $999.
