Time To Watch The June 2020 Strawberry Full Moon In Florida

The Lunar Eclipse 2020 is likely to last till the early hours of June 6.

Tunis/Tunisia - A lunar eclipse is expected to occur this Friday, June 5, the National Institute of Meteorology announced on its website. During the lunar eclipse, Earth moves in between the sun and the moon and obstruct the sunlight that is reflected by the moon. However, our calendar is not perfectly synchronised with astronomical events, therefore, every now and then, a year has 13 full moons.

"When the moon is low on the horizon, it allows you to capture the view with objects in the foreground, making the moon appear bigger", Jones explained.

How are full moons named?

Unfortunately, the June Full Moon "strawberry" nickname does not refer to a color.

According to the space agency, the Maine Farmer's Almanac first published Native American names for the full moons in the 1930s.

For Hindus, the June full Moon corresponds with Vat Purnima.

There are three types of lunar eclipses - Penumbral, Total and Partial.

Like any full moon, the moon can appear reddish-pink which is caused by atmospheric conditions on Earth or a partial lunar eclipse. It will be visible in part of Europe, most of Asia, Australia, Africa, and parts of South America. Since the Moon the farther, it looks like a dark disc on top of another bright disk, which appears like a ring of fire.

When will June 2020 full moon occur?

The eclipse skipped North America, but the Virtual Telescope Project live-streamed the Italian lunar phenomenon.

According to NASA, the next full Moon will appear on June 5 at 3:12pm EDT (June 6 at 12:42am IST). No special equipment is required as it is safe to gaze at the moon with our bare eyes.

As NASA wrote on Monday, the moon will be at its fullest around noon PT.
