Daniel James: Wales forward 'sticking in there' at Manchester United

Wales beat Finland at Cardiff City Stadium with James scoring the second and providing the cross for Kieffer Moore's headed third goal.

As revealed by Football Insider, Everton are keeping close tabs on the 23-year-old ahead of the January window as they plot a potential loan raid at Old Trafford.

United are languishing in 14th in the Premier League table and a fine start to their Champions League campaign took a knock with a 2-1 defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir.

With the summer arrivals of Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani increasing competition for places in attacking positions, the ex-Swansea star has been restricted to just three cameos from the bench for the Red Devils in the top flight to date.

"Man United is my club and I love it there".

Despite his lack of regular game time at club level, he has been a mainstay for Wales and started both of their Nations League games during the global break, scoring against Finland. Whether I am playing or not, I'm proud, as proud as I am to play for Wales.

"We've got options at full-back, so I'm not anxious about that", he explained.

His performances dipped strongly after that and he has since failed to recover but he did at least play plenty of minutes last season.

It was a crucial victory for Wales, who have now secured promotion to the UEFA Nations League Group A.

"After we qualified for the Euros we wanted to make sure we made another achievement, we knew it would be tough coming into this group with some tough games", James said.

"Luke was in very good form, he was, as all of us [were], getting momentum and getting better and better".
