Dream11 IPL 2020, Match 41: CSK vs MI

Sam Curran's first fifty for Chennai Super Kings failed to stave off a humiliating 10-wicket mauling at the hands of table-topping Mumbai Indians in Sharjah.

Chasing 115, MI were off to a flying start as Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock scored 52 in the powerplay. Ishan, in particular, was brutal against Deepak Chahar and Josh Hazlewood, clubbing the duo through the off-side at will.

The Kishan-de Kock pair completed the 100-run partnership in the next over and a couple of overs later, went on to seal MI's convincing 10-wicket win.

It takes a special innings to upstage South Africa white-ball captain De Kock and Kishan produced one.

The left-handed Kishan, who has not had a substantial score after his knock of 99 against Royal Challengers Bangalore, was at his attacking best as he smashed six fours and five sixes during his 37-ball innings.

Defending champions Mumbai, meanwhile, are all but ensured a play-off spot after chalking up a seventh win despite being denied the services of captain Rohit Sharma due to a hamstring injury; in his absence, stand-in skipper Kieron Pollard extended his winning sequence as captain to 15 games.

It all started with Indians pacer Trent Boult sending back Ruturaj Gaikwad (0) in the first over itself. While the former edged one to Quinton de Kock, the latter was caught by Suryakumar Yadav in the first slip.

New Zealand seamer Boult is third in the list of leading wicket-takers in the 2020 IPL with 16, one less than Bumrah. The change of ends did not change Boult's fortunes as he scalped Ravindra Jadeja's wicket as MI picked five wickets in the powerplay.

The duo toyed with the CSK bowling attack on a terrible day for the MS Dhoni-led side to carry their bats through the innings. However, Nathan Coulter-Nile broke the partnership after Thakur was caught as he went for a big shot.

The pair shared a face-saving ninth-wicket stand of 43 before Curran was cleaned out by Boult off the last ball of the innings, the Surrey player having just reached his second IPL fifty off 46 balls thanks to three fours in four balls. CSK eventually posted 114/9 on the board.
