Fitbit Versa 3 and Fitbit Sense getting Google Assistant integration in 2020

After years of trying to make Bixby happen, Samsung is coming around and enabling support for better AI helpers like Alexa and Google Assistant.

Samsung has taken a further step away from Bixby, announcing that the Google Assistant is coming to a range of its latest smart televisions. Of course, you can also use Google Assistant to perform typical actions, like control your smart home or show the weather forecast.

The Google Assistant Samsung TV integration is starting in the U.S. for the following models, 2020 8K and 4K QLED TVs, 2020 Crystal UHD TVs, 2020 Frame and Serif TVs, 2020 Sero and Terrace TVs.

"Just as easily, you'll soon be able to ask, 'Hey Google, where do I vote?' and Google Assistant will share details on where to vote nearby on your Assistant-enabled phone, smart speaker or Smart Display", Yunhan Xu, Product Manager at Google wrote in a blog post.

If you have ever used the Google Assistant or Google Assistant, you will know that the voice of the AI assistant was female by default. The wearables already offer support for Alexa, and the new integration makes sense given Google's pending acquisition of Fitbit. Google confirmed earlier today that the new Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 smartwatches will receive Google Assistant support this winter. In guest mode, Google won't save those interactions, the company claims.

To setup Google Assistant on your 2020 Samsung TV, navigate to Settings General Voice and select Voice Assistant. Google says that users will be able to turn on Guest Mode on Google Assistant using voice command ("Hey Google, turn on Guest Mode"). Because it is a mature voice assistant and people are more familiar with Google Assistant than any other assistant.
