NationNews Barbados: Gayle shines with 53 on IPL return

They finally were able to break their five-match losing streak as they handed RCB a second defeat against KXIP.

KXIP are now at the bottom of the points table. The Mohali-based franchise posted a photo featuring their skipper KL Rahul with the Man of the Match trophy and winner's cheque. Out of all of them, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has been no smaller than any other team. Mohammad Shami of Kings XI is at the third spot as he has also picked 12 wickets in eight matches.

RCB won the toss and chose to bat first, their openers Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal were sent back early on the game.

After Archer, the new IPL anchor also reacted to Kohli's quirky dance.

. Shivam Dube too gave up his wicket in similar fashion, he departed scoring 23 runs. He is followed by his teammate Mayank Agarwal who has collected 382 runs in eight games.

In their first match of the tournament against Delhi Capitals, KXIP had failed to score the required single run of the last three balls and the game headed to a Super Over where they lost the game. KL Rahul was joined by the much-awaited Chris Gayle at the crease, both stitched a good partnership.

KXIP had almost pulled off the win when they reduced the target to seven runs needing off the final two overs. The 29-year-old scored 45 off 25 balls, providing a flying start to his side.

To KXIP's fortune, Nicholas Pooran walked in to bat at the last ball when only 1 run was required to win the game and Pooran smashed the ball out of the park for a six to win the second game for KXIP this season.
