Liverpool loan Harry Wilson to Cardiff City — Sporting relegation

The Premier League champions had wanted to sell the 23-year-old permanently this summer but no club was willing to meet their initial £20million valuation for the Welshman.

Harry Wilson of Wales in action during the Wales Training Session at The Vale Resort on October 7, 2020 in Cardiff, Wales.

Liverpool rejected the Burnley's attempts to sign Wilson last month after Sean Dyche's side would not provide a £15m upfront payment.

Numerous Championship clubs were linked with securing a deal for Wilson, but Cardiff appear to have won the race for his signature.

It is claimed that discussions are close to completion between the two clubs and states that a transfer loan fee has already been agreed.

The 23-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements at Liverpool, having made one solitary Carabao Cup start so far in 2020/21.

It's a shame that Wilson has not been able to earn a move away from Liverpool earlier in the season, but it's important for the individual that he leaves on Friday and he'll have to drop down to the Championship to earn regular game-time.

His return to the Championship represents the best financial option now available to Liverpool given the limited opportunities now in Jurgen Klopp's squad.

However, Cardiff have swooped for Wilson with a late reported £1m loan offer which will now see Wilson spend the campaign in his home country with all his wages reportedly covered by his new side.
