1,704 new COVID-19 cases reported in Minnesota Saturday

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 1,857 new positive coronavirus cases Saturday, raising the statewide total to 180,943 since the pandemic hit.

Clark County's number of new COVID-19 cases increased by 27 percent this week, with 43 new cases reported on Friday.

The new state report raises the seven-day average of new infections close to 2,800, a figure that had dropped under 2,300 in late September and early October, when the state lifted restrictions on restaurants and the largest school districts began welcoming students.

Two patients at Lawrence's hospital had COVID-19 on Wednesday, one less than Tuesday.

Cases of the novel coronavirus have been surging nationwide, and Clark County has been no exception, with case numbers rising from as low as 149 cases in the seven days ending August 28 to 319 cases in the seven days ending Friday. Total case counts in those weeks were 250 and 251, respectively.

In the tri-county area, Stearns County had 42 cases, Sherburne County had 14 and Benton County had 14.

This is the 12th day in a row the case numbers have topped 1,000, numbers not seen regularly since spring.
