Tulsa postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests

Cincinnati's postponed game against Tulsa will be moved from Saturday to December 5 due to the Bearcats' COVID-19 issues, the AAC announced Thursday. "As the university, the conference and the NCAA have said throughout this pandemic, the health and safety of our student-athletes are at the forefront of all decisions".

"We are disappointed we will be unable to play Tulsa Saturday", Cincinnati athletic director John Cunningham said in a statement to ESPN. Tulsa's next game is scheduled for October 23 at South Florida in Tampa, Fla.

Officials said Tickets and parking purchased for the game will be valid for the rescheduled date.

The number of Cincinnati players who have tested positive or have been quarantined through contact tracing was not revealed by the school, which has not been making those numbers public throughout its testing of athletes.

Cincinnati, which was off last weekend, will next play at the 17th-ranked SMU Mustangs on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The number of games involving FBS teams to be postponed and canceled since August 26 is now 31.

Overall, six major college games slated to be played this week have been rescheduled because of the virus, including five since Sunday.

Tulsa had designated Saturday's matchup as the school's homecoming game.

FIU has been advised to play October 23 from Jacksonville, a match originally scheduled for September 3 however pushed back if FIU postponed the beginning of its collapse sports contest into September 16.

Add a top-10 team's Saturday game to the list of postponements. Elsewhere in the SEC, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin noted that his program was dealing with COVID-19 cases while Alabama head coach Nick Saban and Greg Byrne both tested positive for the virus on Wednesday. This TU Homecoming game was a great opportunity to showcase our football program, the community and the American Athletic Conference against the nation's No. 8 team.
