Saline County reports 24 new COVID-19 cases; 812 of 929 recovered

There have been 158 cases of COVID-19 reported over the past day and no new deaths.

Ontario is reporting 783 new COVID-19 cases today.

That left the number of active cases across B.C.at 1,494, a decrease of one case from the previous day. New rules limit gatherings to five people or less, quarantine for visitors from states deemed high-risk, reduced hotel capacities, and a 10 p.m. closing time for food or drink establishments serving alcohol.

Only two of the new cases reported Wednesday were in long-term care facilities - that bore the brunt of illness in the early days of the pandemic.

The number of hospitalizations from COVID-19 also dropped to 74, down from 84 on Wednesday.

As of Thursday, 657 Shelby County residents have recovered, and 137 have not recovered.

Of those cases, at least 195 are still considered "active infectious". Of those, 388 patients were in the ICU and 147 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators; 9,127 persons have passed away since March, 2020. Four people are now hospitalized, and there have been four deaths in the county.

Officials previously investigated 16 other children for possible MIS-C, but none of them tested positive for COVID-19 or for COVID-19 antibodies.
