Outraged Conservatives Cry 'Interrogation' Over Trump's Town Hall Moderator Asking Tough Questions

His response was reminiscent of Trump's refusal to condemn white supremacists and other militia groups at the first presidential debate with Joe Biden last month, when the president instead told the Proud Boys, an SPLC-designated hate group, to "stand back and stand by".

"NBC fake news did their best to just ambush President Trump at tonight's town hall", Fox News host Sean Hannity declared on his program.

President Trump admitted he does owe $400 million as the New York Times had reported, but still refused to say who he owes it to.

According to CBS News, Mieke Haeck, parent of a transgender child, asked Biden, "The Trump administration has attacked the rights of transgender people, banning them from military service, weakening nondiscriminatory protections, and even removing the word "transgender" from some government websites". The president refrained from making the same insults at the event itself. "Can you just once and for all just state that that is completely not true?"

The two simultaneous town halls have exposed stark differences between the media's treatment of each of the presidential contenders, according to Dr Harvey Schantz, professor of political science at the State University of NY at Plattsburgh. He said, "I'm still not a fan" of expanding the court, but that his ultimate decision depended on how the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court "is handled" and "how much they rush this".

Guthrie asked Trump about his retweeting that Biden ordered the killing of a Navy Seal team to cover up Osama bin Laden's capture and death being faked.

Previously on the record as pro-choice, Trump wouldn't answer if he wants Roe v Wade overturned.

"That was an opinion of somebody, and that was a retweet. I owe a very, very small, it's called mortgages".

However, what struck Schantz is that at no point did ABC's George Stephanopoulos bring up the controversial financial dealings of Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, which have popped up in the press and on social media following a recent exposé by the New York Post. ABC's Biden town hall ran for an hour and a half, then Biden remained for an additional 30 minutes answering additional voter's questions off air.

Has Town Hall Changed the Balance of Power?

MSNBC also carried the town hall, albeit it didn't feature what rival CNN did for events like it: a countdown clock.

Guthrie opened her town hall, held at an outdoor venue in Miami, by questioning him repeatedly about when he last tested negative for COVID-19 before testing positive on October 1.
