The developer also announced the next-gen enhancement's release date, pushing it out to December 8th, almost a month after Beyond Light's launch on November 10th.

Prima Interactive, the distributor of Xbox consoles in South Africa, has announced that more stock for the upcoming Xbox Series X and Series S consoles will be available locally. Players who have the current-generation version of Destiny 2 are eligible for the next-generation upgrade at no extra cost. The additional time is to "ensure a smooth experience when playing Destiny 2 on your new devices".

These are the games that are either launching alongside the new hardware, or are being updated on day one to take advantage of the power and features of the new consoles. With the increased range of vision comes performance hiccups, however, which is why consoles have traditionally not included the option in the past. Nowhere in the documentation that we put together was: 'How do we keep other players from playing these games?' We want more people to be able to play games, not fewer people to be able to go play games.

Pre-orders first opened in South Africa on 22 September 2020, with both the Series X and Series S consoles being available from a number of participating retailers.

The game will still have much faster load times on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S starting immediately when the consoles launch.

Spencer also noted that over the course of the generation, he expects the Xbox Series S will sell better than its pricier, more powerful counterpart.
