Colts Close Facility After Multiple Positive Coronavirus Tests

Indy is the second team in as many days to close its facility after recording COVID-19 positives following the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday.

The Colts and Falcons became the latest National Football League teams to deal with shutdowns because of positive coronavirus tests.

"This morning, we were informed that several individuals within our organization have tested posted for COVID-19", the Colts said in a written statement. Masks on the field, player separation on the field.

The Tennessee Titans, seemingly the Colts' main AFC South rivals this season, were forced to close their facility for almost two weeks and had two games rescheduled due to a coronavirus outbreak of over 20 players and personnel. All of those things we had to implement. Just taking ultimate precaution in these times of uncertainty, especially when you're talking about the COVID.

The Falcons are under the NFL's supplemental intensive protocols as they regroup for Sunday's game at Minnesota. The team practiced Wednesday.

The Atlanta Falcons closed their facility Thursday following a second positive test for COVID-19, the Tennessee Titans played Tuesday following a 16-day layoff because of an outbreak, and the New England Patriots have twice had their original Week 5 matchup against Denver postponed following four positive coronavirus tests by players.

The Carolina Panthers, who played the Falcons last Sunday, announced Wednesday they were operating under enhanced coronavirus protocols. Meetings must be held virtually or outdoors or in a large indoor room with 6-foot social distancing.
