Broncos RB Melvin Gordon reportedly charged with DUI in Denver

Cops say the running back was clocked doing 71 in a 35 miles per hour zone, and he was super drunk according to TMZ.

Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon is in danger of facing sanctions from the National Football League after he was charged with driving under the influence Tuesday, according to court and police documents.

"We're conscious of the state of affairs involving Melvin Gordon", the Broncos mentioned in an announcement.

One difference with DUI protocol this year is that those suspected of driving under the influence in Denver are no longer required to be booked into the jail, but rather required to be driven home by a sober driver, which is what happened Tuesday night with Gordon. They said that he exhibited "validated indicators of impairment" and failed a field sobriety test. "Our organization has been in communication with him and is in the process of gathering more details", the team said in a statement on Wednesday. The new CBA has a baseline suspension of three games.

According to a 9News report, Gordon is expected to be arraigned on November 13, the day before the team leaves for a game against the Raiders.

The Broncos resume practice on Wednesday for their game this weekend.

Unfortunately, Gordon not only faces consequences with the law but also with the NFL. He rushed for 107 yards and scored two touchdowns on 23 carries in a Thursday night win over the New York Jets almost two weeks ago.

The Broncos are scheduled to play the New England Patriots Sunday, and Fangio is hoping to confirm Gordon's status for the game as early as Thursday.

KUSA-TV in Denver first reported Gordon's citations.
