Ariana Grande & Timothee Chalamet Join Jennifer Lawrence In 'Don't Look Up'

As previously announced, Jennifer Lawrence will take on the role of Don't Look Up's main character.

Okay, ready? Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry, and Tomer Sisley are teaming up with Jennifer Lawrence and Rob Morgan for Don't Look Up.

As per Deadline, the story of Don't Look Up follows two astronomers who embark on a journey to warn people about an approaching asteroid that could potentially destroy the planet. Lawrence and DiCaprio are expected to play the two astronomers, but Netflix would not confirm.

McKay wrote the movie and will produce under his Hyperobject Industries banner with Kevin Messick, and it's now been confirmed that he'll also direct.

The movie is scheduled to start filming before the end of the year. He is also starring in Martin Scorcese's Killers of the Flower Moon alongside Robert De Niro which is being funded by Apple and will hit theaters as well as premiere on Apple TV+ sometime in 2021.

In an interview with Insider this week, McKay said "Don't Look Up" appealed to him as he was seeking a return to comedy after the heavy burden of his Dick Cheney biopic "Vice". In other words, it seems a bit removed from McKay's recent Oscar-nominated films based on nonfiction, like The Big Short and Vice. McKay won an Academy Award for 2015's "The Big Short", nabbing the prize for adapted screenplay.
