Jets' Bell could miss 'a couple weeks' with hamstring injury

Prior to the start of his second season in Gotham, Bell's hamstring has been a storyline and a problem.

Mims was on track to make his National Football League debut in Week 1 before a second hamstring injury forced him out of the lineup. I let him go back in there.

Bell remained in the game and came back for five plays just after halftime. Ballage failed his physical during training camp, negating a trade to the Jets from the Dolphins, but now that he's recovered, he'll join a roster that features only one healthy running back in Frank Gore. The Jets declined to comment on the severity of the injury, and Bell wasn't made available.

"That play looked bad", Gase said, via ESPN.

Le'Veon Bell's troublesome hamstring will have him on hiatus from the New York Jets for a spell. That, though, is when Gase pulled him for good. I was anxious about it, and we were eventually like, 'I can't put you in there.

Gase added that he doesn't want to put a timetable on Bell's recovery. Minutes later, Bell took issue with that, tweeting that there was no injury and that he wanted to continue.

Afterward, Bell chalked it up to a miscommunication, suggesting he and Gase need to speak with each other directly on the sideline instead of involving trainers.

Bell finished with 14 rushing yards on six carries and another 32 yards through the air on two receptions.
