Best iPad Air 2020 Deals: Where to buy Apple's newest tablet

In adopting the iPad Pro design language, the iPad Air has also ditched the home button that has been present on Air models since 2013.

Appearing during the presentation as part of a series of product launches, the new iPad Air refreshes the tablet a year and a half after the iPad Air 3's introduction in March 2019.

Apple also updated the cheapest iPad - just called the iPad - with new Apple Pencil features and faster chips.

The tablet has the same footprint as its predecessor, but because of the smaller bezels it now has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with 2360x1640 resolution. And it will now work with other devices, such as Apple's own Smart Keyboard. The below retailers have begun listing the device so you can get your order in if you want to be among the first to get your hands on the device.

The primary update to the model is its display, as while last year's version went from the signature 9.7-inch iPad screen size to a 10.5-inch version, Apple has gone one stage further. And oh boy, it's coming in some fun colors along with a almost edge-to-edge display. The 8th Generation tablet has the same design and new performance thanks to the A14 Bionic chip that will enable 40% faster CPU and has a 2X jump in graphics. Instead the iPad Air includes support for the Apple Pencil 2, complete with iPad Pro-style wireless charging on the side.

The Touch ID fingerprint sensor that was in that home button has been moved into the power button, Apple said.

IPad Air was created to offer pro features at an affordable price and is a new mission statement for the iPad Air and it looks like the iPad Pro 11-inch. Lightning is officially only found on the eighth-gen iPad and iPad Mini. Those cameras should deliver clear and vibrant photos and videos. You'll get stereo audio on the iPad Air. The big "gotcha" with the new iPad Air is the A14 Bionic chipset, which should have debuted with Apple's yet unannounced iPhone 12 family. You can get a bit more creative with color options. There are five colors available, including new Rose Gold, Green, and Sky Blue finishes.

Pricing starts at $599 in the United States. We'll circle back once preorders start.
