Xiaomi's 2021 flagships will be pretty expensive; no thanks to Qualcomm

The report mentions that the Snapdragon 865+ processor is expected to have a clock speed of 3.09 GHz, which will be higher than 2.84GHz in Snapdragon 865.

According to information coming from Korea, the Snapdragon 875 will be even more expensive than the Snapdragon 865.

Based on a statement by Ice Universe on the user's weibo account, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset will most likely be unveiled somewhere around July 2020 provided there are not hiccups.

The highlight of the Snapdragon 765 is the integrated X52 5G modem.

The post goes on to say that Xiaomi, known for its value for money handsets, is in the middle of a "fierce debate" over how it will price its 2021 flagships running the Snapdragon 875 chipset.

Android flagships have been nearly ridiculously priced this year, with traditionally affordable premium phones from Xiaomi and OnePlus all seeing significant jumps in prices, relative to their predecessors. The Snapdragon 875 will also be made by TSMC but the foundry will be using its 5nm process for the first time on a Snapdragon chipset. With that said, we can expect many smartphone manufacturers to unveil a few flagship smartphones that come equipped with the aforementioned chipset. They can also raise prices or keep any price increase small and eat the extra expense. However, OEMs won't have the option to buy the modem from another vendor.
