Facebook's dark mode for mobile is coming, some users confirm

Reports of Facebook testing Dark Mode on its mobile app surfaced earlier in the month. Now, it looks like the social media platform is adding the Dark Mode to its mobile application as well. They showcase a new dark mode setting in Facebook for iOS.

Some of Facebook's apps including Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram have featured ‌Dark Mode‌ for quite some time, so it remains to be seen as to why the company's flagship app took longer to gain the feature. Further, there is also no information for when the new dark mode setting will be released for the Android app.

According to a Facebook Spokesperson, the dark mode on mobile is "meant to cut down on glare" especially when using the app in low light environments. Just tap on the hamburger icon on the top right corner (below the messenger icon) and scroll down. Shared images suggest the feature is housed in the sidebar menu, under Settings & Privacy, and may launch later this year alongside major mobile operating system updates. You will find the "Dark Mode" below the "Your Time on Facebook" and above the "Language" option. The catch for now is that the feature is only available to a small number of users. If it is still not available, you will have to wait some more until Facebook initiates a wider rollout. The social-media giant has lost a lot of high-rollers from its advertising roster over the last week including Verizon.
