OR 4-star signee Luke Hill arrested on 8 charges

4-star cornerback Luke Hill was arrested on eight different charges, including attempted murder in the first degree.

The eight charges listed against Hill by the District Court for Prince George's County (Maryland) include attempted loaded handgun on person, handgun on person, possession of a firearm by a minor, use of an assault weapon, use of a firearm, attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and first-degree assault. Hill will appear in court in June in his native Maryland.

ESPN reported that Hill's alleged intended victim was University of Rhode Island basketball signee Ishmael Leggett. The two used to go to high school with each other. A source told ESPN that he had never applied for admission to the school. "This was not a random crime".

Luke Hill had committed to OR, but this will set things back a little bit.

Hill signed with OR in December, though Ducks coach Mario Cristobal said in a statement Wednesday that Hill and the team already had agreed to part ways. Multiple reports have noted that Hill never formally applied to OR after he signed.

OR informed Hill, listed as the No. 12 cornerback in the ESPN recruiting rankings, he would not join the football team earlier this spring, and he never formally applied for admission, ESPN reported. He was part of an OR recruiting class that ranked No. 9 in the country.
