ABC Orders 2 New Shows for 2020

Those are among the shows that will return in the 2020-21 season, the network said Thursday, adding to the list of previously announced renewals for a total so far of 19.

On the cancellation front, ABC confirms that Single Parents, Schooled, Emergence, Bless This Mess and the Tiffany Haddish-led reboot of Kids Say the Darndest Things have ended their respective runs (more on those axings here).

Big Sky joins Kelley's growing slate - including Netflix's recently revealed adaptation of An Anatomy Of A Scandal - and is based on the series of books by C.J. Box, which explore a series of kidnappings.

The Big Sky is a mystery thriller about two private detectives Cassie Dewell and Cody Hoyt teaming up with ex-cop Jenny Hoyt (who also happens to be Cody's estranged wife) to search for two sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver. "Our top priority now is to work with our studio partners to ensure a safe return to production so that we can build on the strong momentum of a winning lineup with measured bets on new series that will invigorate our air and continue to deliver the quality programming that our viewers have come to expect and love". It is being produced by A+E Studios in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The cast includes Kylie Bunbury, Katheryn Winnick, Brian Geraghty, Dedee Pfeiffer, Natalie Alyn Lind, Jesse James Keitel, John Carroll Lynch, and Ryan Phillippe.

After cancelling a trio of underperforming sophomore comedies and a freshman drama that collapsed over the course of its only season, ABC brought some good news by renewing eight of its scripted shows - American Housewife, Black-ish, Mixed-ish, The Conners, The Goldbergs, A Million Little Things, The Rookie, and Stumptown.

Kyra Sedgwick is Jean Raines, Rachel Sennott is Jackie Raines, Joey Bragg is Freddie Raines, Patrick Brammall is Danny, Emma Caymares is Celia, and Austin Crute plays Lane. Earlier this season, ABC set the conclusions for How to Get Away with Murder, Modern Family, Fresh Off the Boat, and Agents of SHIELD while renewing The Good Doctor and Station 19.
