Marianne Faithfull has tested positive for coronavirus and is now in hospital.

Faithfull friend Penny Arcade told Rolling Stone that Faithfull was sheltering in place, but caught a cold.

But she has also had well-documented battles with drug addiction and health issues.

The 74-year-old veteran artiste is now stable, her management told Rolling Stone magazine. As she recounted in her compelling autobiography, she allocated to herself a particular stretch of wall in the city where she slept, her wall, as she phrased it.The singer was also addicted to heroin, recalled with striking articulacy and honesty in the memoir.

Jagger even wrote hits with songwriting partner Keith Richards for Faithfull, including the top ten As Tears Go By.

Faithfull, who last released her late-career masterwork Negative Capacity in 2018, is the latest musician to test positive for the novel coronavirus, a global pandemic that has contributed toward the deaths of Fountains of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger, country singer Joe Diffie and jazz patriarch Ellis Marsalis Jr.
