Apple unveils new iPad Pro with LIDAR camera, trackpad support

In addition, Apple announced a new keyboard accessory that lets people use the iPad Pro with a laptop-style trackpad, a Magic Keyboard. Additionally, the new model will feature the new Magic Keyboard, which made its debut on the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

The company's new iPad Pro, available in 11 inches ($A1329) and 12.9 inches ($A1469), looks similar to its previous models but features a new Liquid Retina display, more powerful processor and a new ultra wide camera. The Magic keyboard will be available in May and comes in 11-inch and 12.9-inch versions. The keyboard cover should be available in May for $150. Both the iPad and MBA updates are evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but the MBA update is particularly welcome, if only for the keyboard.

Apart from measurements, the LiDAR scanner can be used for augmented reality apps which will get automatic support for the technology through Apple's ARKit software development set of tools. The 11in variant starts at £769/$799 for the wi-fi only model and £919/$949 for the wi-fi and cellular model, whereas the 12.9in version starts at £969/$949 for the wi-fi model and £1119/$1149 for the wi-fi and cellular model.

The new iPad has a A12Z Bionic chip, meaning it's faster and more powerful than most Windows PC laptops.

It also reveals the new backlit "Magic Keyboard Case" that connects to the tablet via magnets and includes a trackpad that will be enabled when iPadOS 13.4 is released on March 24th.

The industry-best Force Touch trackpad for precise cursor control and multi-touch navigation. The display on both models supports 120Hz refresh rate making it suitable for seamless gaming experience and smoother scrolling. Thankfully, Apple has also increased the base storage of the entry-level model from 128GB to 256GB SSD storage, a capacity that will make it easier for users to store photos and other media locally without resorting to external solutions. It was discovered that the new processor has been upgraded to eight cores, whereas its predecessor, the A12X, had only seven cores. Less than a year ago, I wrote that the $1,299 13-inch MacBook Pro was worth the $200 premium over the Air - primarily due to a better screen and vastly improved performance.

Undoubtedly one of the biggest releases of this week, Apple has finally unveiled the fourth-generation iPad Pro series.

Apple estimates "up to 9 hours" of life when browsing the web using the cellular modems in the 2020 iPad Pros. By upgrading the Air's base hardware, you can spec out a $1,299 machine with 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a 10th-generation quad-core Intel i5 processor.

The second video released today by Apple is called "How to correctly use a computer".
