OnePlus new logo unveiled ahead of OnePlus 8 series launch

At first glance, the logo and branding are practically the same. We know some logo changes go in a very wrong direction but in the case of OnePlus the differences are so small some people probably won't even notice them.

A new simpler, cleaner and bolder logo was also unveiled, which makes the "1" more natural to read, while the "+" has been made bigger and more prominent.

OnePlus is not only aiming for a smartphone strategy that is different from it's done in the past but it is also making a few other changes, part of which includes making a refreshed brand identity, as announced by the company yesterday.

The refreshed logo creates a clearer association between the symbol and the trademark, while also allowing for more flexible application and improved recognizability in digital media. A few images had surfaced a few days ago which suggested the brand could be facelifting its logo. We're expecting two new smartphones, OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro at the launch event.

The visual identity is accompanied by a fresh color palette which centers on OnePlus's iconic red, followed by an updated secondary palette of cyan, green, magenta, indigo, and yellow to make the company's design and assets more vibrant and lively. It comes with some design changes to the "1" as well as the ONEPLUS text which is now in all caps which, according to the global creative director of OnePlus, brings "excitement and balance" to the visual identity.
