Wendy Williams tearfully apologizes for comments about gay men wearing women's clothes

In a video message posted to her social media, Williams said, "I'll start by saying, I apologize". On yesterday's episode of The Wendy Williams Show, the host asked who in the audience is celebrating Galentine's Day. "I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings". "When he shaves off his mustache, he's got a hairline fracture, he's got one of those-what do you call it?"

Whatever, sis. If we want to talk about appropriation, Williams has been stealing from the gay community for years, just as gay men have been stealing from women, particularly black women, for decades.

"Hearing @WendyWilliams go on a transphobic and homophobic rant today has me deciding to never ever support her again", user @RebelHeart311 tweeted. She instructed the LBGTQ community to "stop wearing our skirts and our heels", referencing the androgynous style of stars like Billy Porter. I don't care if you're gay.

Williams' comments come weeks after she faced backlash for mocking Joaquin Phoenix's scar in January. "I will do better".

Her comments were met with a round of applause from the audience - but a slew of negative remarks online from viewers watching at home.

She said she's very particular about how she does her show "and one thing that I can tell you right now, is that I never do the show in a place of malice". I appreciate you supporting me.

The Wendy Williams Show airs weekdays in syndication (check local listings). It's women going out and gettin' saucy and then goin' back home. Williams' comments also caught the attention of Canadian football player Adam Bighill, whose son Beau had just gotten cleft palate fix surgery, and slammed the talk show host by saying she "clearly promotes bullying". "No matter how gay".

"I tell you every day and I mean this, and I'm going to keep drilling it in your mind", Williams said during the segment. "I can't blame anybody but me".

"I say it and I mean it", Williams said, echoing her show's theme song.
