Watch Astronaut Christina Koch Reunite With Her Dog After a Year Apart

Astronaut Christina Koch just made her return to earth after a record setting 11-month journey in space, and her dog LBD-which stands for Little Brown Dog-was very excited to see her.

Koch shared a video on Twitter of the moment she walked through her front door and LBD pounced to shower her with kisses. But perhaps one of Koch's most most important contributions was that she herself was the subject of study while in space. During her time on the ISS, Koch participated in a number of experiments, and even took the time to answer a few questions from Earth. She landed in Kazakhstan on February 6 with two colleagues aboard a Russian capsule.

A surfer who has spoken about how much she loves living near the beach, Koch was quick to visit the ocean after reuniting with LBD and her husband, Robert Koch.

Koch, an electrical engineer, was part of the first-ever all-woman spacewalk along with fellow USA astronaut Jessica Weir in 2019. She was also looking forward to digging into some chips and salsa, and going swimming and surfing in the Gulf of Mexico.

The 40-year-old electrical engineer from Livingston had been living on the International Space Station since March, 2019, and broke the record for the longest spaceflight by a woman.

Koch's time in space was history-making. We see another aspect of how the human body is affected by microgravity for the long term.

Currently, three astronauts remain at the space station, including Jessica Meir who took part in the record-breaking all-female spacewalk with Koch a year ago.
