Billie Eilish Releases James Bond Theme Song ‘No Time To Die’

Today, five-time GRAMMY Award winning Darkroom/Interscope Records artist Billie Eilish has released her latest song, No Time To Die, the official theme song to the upcoming James Bond film.

The track was co-written and produced by her brother Finneas O'Connell.

No Time To Die is pushing the window out even further with Billie Eilish's theme song dropping the better part of two months before the film finally reaches screens, but this lines up with the way this movie's production and marketing has confounded tradition and expectation at every turn, including the series of 30 second spots accompanying the Superbowl and Oscars which have included one or two new shots and lines without actually telling us anything, keeping the pot boiling before the second trailer arrives sometime in the next few weeks. Though she's one of the youngest artists to ever tackle a theme for the franchise, Eilish's dark aesthetic is a ideal match for 007 and the increasingly dark and dramatic tone of recent Bond films. "I'm still in shock", she said in an interview.

Eilish was unveiled as the artist behind the new Bond song at the beginning of this year, when it was announced that she and her brother Finneas O'Connell would be writing and recording the new track together. "Their creative integrity and talent are second to none and I can not wait for audiences to hear what they've brought - a fresh new perspective whose vocals will echo for generations to come", added director Cary Joji Fukunaga.

As the press release accompanying the release points out, the 18-year-old Grammy victor is the youngest artist to ever write and record a Bond theme.

Eilish is also the youngest musician to ever record the James Bond theme song, joining the ranks of others who have handled the task including Madonna, Chris Cornell, Adele and others.

As of this writing, No Time To Die will be released globally from April 2nd 2020 in the United Kingdom and April 10th 2020 in the USA. "We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007". No Time to Die will mark the end of Daniel Craig's tenure as James Bond and features performances from Lashanna Lynch and Rami Malek.

Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is cut short when his old friend from the CIA Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) shows up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with unsafe new technology.
