Gervonta Davis Arrested for Domestic Violence Over Viral Video

Davis has reportedly been charged with Simple Battery Domestic Violence and was transported to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center for processing.

Lightweight champion boxer Gervonta Davis turned himself in to Florida police on Tuesday after cellphone video circulated of him getting into a physical fight with a woman in Miami. 'That's the mother of my child.

When footage of the incident went viral, Davis issued a statement via his Instagram stories. "I would never hurt her". "Yeah, I was aggressive and told her 'come on.' That's the mother of my child".

Davis had been charged with misdemeanor assault in February 2019, according to TMZ. Footage from the event shows Davis yank a woman out of her seat, before the two were escorted off the cout.

The incident occurred about a month after Davis agreed to a new custody agreement with the woman, identified by celebrity news site Bossip as Andretta Smothers, under which he will pay her $10,000 a month in child support.

Davis (23-0, 20 KOs) was in action back in December when he stopped Yuriokris Gamboa in the twelfth round to capture the vacant WBA "regular" lightweight strap in Atlanta.

Davis also has a history of violence.

The following year he was arrested for fighting in the street in Washington, D.C.

Davis has a record of 23-0 and now holds the WBA (regular) lightweight title.
