William and Kate embark on 'complex' Pakistan visit

During the Prince William visit to Pakistan, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton will meet PM Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi on October 15 (Tuesday).

Kate Middleton and Prince William will have to bring their royal A game and display all their diplomatic skills and charm when they head to Pakistan next week.

The visit will mark Royal couple's first trip to Pakistan.

"What happens in Pakistan matters on the streets of the U.K. It is one of the most important relationships that the U.K. has", says a senior source.

He said the visit of British Royal Couple will promote bilateral relations between the two countries.

"This visit is definitely going to help Pakistan build an image in the world, to see that this place is no more a security risk, this place is peaceful enough to host dignities like the royal couple", government spokesman Iftikhar Durrani said, adding that the government would also highlight its stance on Kashmir during the visit.

He said the people of Pakistan have great respect and honor in their hearts for the British Royal Family. And much of the tour will bring echoes of his late mother Princess Diana, who visited Pakistan twice in the previous year of her life - and was asked by the Queen to undertake a solo trip as early as 1991.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met British High Commissioner Thomas Drew in Islamabad today.

Many in Pakistan are hoping to see the Kate favour Pakistani designers during her visit and wear the shalwar kameez - a long, flowing tunic over loose pants - which William's mother Princess Diana wore during visits in the 1990s.

Faisal Kapadia, a writer, blogger and cofounder of Mindmap Communications, stressed that Prince William and Middleton are not coming for a particular city, they are visiting charities and environmentally conscious activists.
