Phillies Need New Manager

The Phillies hired Kapler hoping that his lone year of experience managing in the minors would be enough to return Philadelphia to the postseason, having missed October baseball since 2011.

That Philadelphia posted the one-game improvement from Kapler's first year at the helm was a significant disappointment after bringing in Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto, Andrew McCutchen, Jean Segura and David Robertson.

Kapler went 161-163 in two seasons as the Phillies' manager, including an 81-81 campaign this past season.

When he was introduced as Philadelphia Phillies manager in 2017, Gabe Kapler said his goal was to bring a World Series title to team owner John Middleton.

Now that Philadelphia has an opening for manager along with plenty of talent to work with, here are four managers that immediately come to mind as far as potential replacements for Kapler. Middleton said general manager Matt Klentak will conduct the organization's search for a new skipper. "I have tremendous respect for this organization, this franchise and this city". "We came into 2019 with very high hopes".

"Reassuring to me was the endorsement that people outside the Phillies gave to the progress we have made recently, both organisationally and on the field". I will forever value the relationships I developed with them.

In his first game, the Braves rallied from a five-run deficit, winning on a three-run home run in the ninth inning. The Phillies defeated the Expos 5-4.

The Phillies were 15 games over.500 and leading the NL East in early August but saw a dismal fall in the ensuing part of the season, going 16-33 down the stretch to finish 80-82.

Kapler took over from Pete Mackanin as Phillies manager to start the 2018 season. His tenure with the franchise only lasted two years.
