Georgia Twitter reacts to Bulldogs win over Tennessee

Maurer made his college debut September 14 against Chattanooga and also played the next week in a 34-3 loss to Florida, starting the second half of that game.

Tennessee quarterback Brian Maurer took to social media on Sunday to send a message to Vol fans.

The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Tennessee Volunteers 43-14 on Saturday night in Knoxville, Tennessee.

But the Volunteers made this one interesting for a while.

Tennessee plans to start true freshman Brian Maurer at quarterback on Saturday against No. 3 Georgia, sources told ESPN.

Georgia: The Bulldogs had to come from behind for a second straight game after erasing a halftime deficit in a 23-17 victory over Notre Dame two weeks ago. "We're not going to give Georgia a scouting report of what we're going to do this week", Pruitt said. "You can take that two ways, and I think he took that the right way", reciever Marquez Callaway said after the game on Brian Maurer. I thought Jarrett did a good job when he was in there.

In his first career start for the Vols (1-4/0-2 SEC), Maurer completed 14 of 28 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Tennessee wasted little time responding, as Maurer found Callaway behind the Bulldog secondary for an electrifying 73-yard touchdown strike on the second play of the ensuing drive.

On the next drive, Maurer connected with three different receivers to get the Vols into Georgia territory before threading a 12-yard scoring strike to Jauan Jennings. Maurer and company seized the lead on the next possession, as the freshman signal-caller fired a dart across the middle to Jennings for a 12-yard touchdown on the opening play of the second quarter. Herrien added a one-yard TD run for the Bulldogs with 8:02 to go, and Tae Crowder returned a fumble 60 yards with 4:39 remaining.

A drive later, he hit 21-yard completions on consecutive plays to Jennings and Callaway, who both topped 100 yards receiving on the day - the first time Tennessee has had two receivers hit triple digits in a game since 2012, when Tyler Bray did it with Mychal Rivera and Justin Hunter.

Despite Maurer's decent performance, Pruitt would not say which quarterback would start going forward and hinted at using a two quarterback system. Cimaglia's PAT put the Vols up 14-10 with 14:57 to go in the half. "In the second half, defensively we didn't give up as many plays". Now, the Dawgs are 5-0 and face SC in Athens this Saturday at noon.

Tennessee will be back in action next Saturday at Neyland Stadium, as Mississippi State comes to town for a noon contest on the SEC Network.
