Rangers signing now expected in the coming days

Rangers have been searching for an global centre-back this summer, and sources close to the player have confirmed to Goal that the Swede has agreed to a three-year deal at Ibrox.

The Swede has agreed personal terms with Rangers, and only a few formalities remain before the deal is officially announced.

The 26-year-old former Malmo and Verona player has 10 worldwide caps.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard has McPake in and around the first team group and he turned out for the senior side in a friendly clash at Ibrox on Sunday.

However, the giant defender struggled to find consistent playing time last season after Sinisa Mihajlovic replaced Filippo Inzaghi as coach.

The Glaswegians won 4-0 in Gibraltar, with goals from debutant Sheyi Ojo, as well as Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic, and Alfredo Morelos.

"It's an incredible set-up, with the Europa League, the domestic league and all the cup games". It's all about enjoying your football, not just for me but for everyone else in the team. "Everyone's looking forward to showing what we can do as a club and as individuals".

Exciting times, then, and it looks as though a new face is going to be on the way before the week is out.

The wonderfully named Simon Sylvanus Deli has been repeatedly linked with a move to Steven Gerrard's Rangers over the past couple of days, but the Glasgow club may not have a clear path to the deal.

"So I was very impressed that we kept passing the ball, we didn't get bored and we kept trying to create chances and we kept searching for more goals".

"I sensed that as soon as I came here, in training and in the game against Oxford".
