Lata Mangeshkar bats for MS Dhoni

Yesterday the entire euphoria of India winning the ICC Cricket World Cup fizzled with India losing to New Zealand with 18 runs.

The former Indian skipper faces a rather unforeseen request from yet another old familiar face, and this time it is not Charulata Das but much acclaimed play back singer, Lata Mangeshker who urged Dhoni not to quit global cricket.

In a tweet, the Lata Mangeshkar, the most famous playback singer of the country, wrote: "Namaskar M S Dhoni ji".

The cricket season is at its peak and like many a times, weather plays a spoilt sport, it seems we would want to pacify ourselves blaming it to the rains as one of the factors for India's loss.

Also, the singer tweeted another tweet in which she encouraged the team by dedicating a song for them. "Desh ko aap ke khel ki zaroorat hai aur ye meri bhi request hai ki Retirement ka vichar bhi aap mann mein mat laayiye @msdhoni", she tweeted.

Coming to bat at No.7 position when India were reeling at 71/5 in their chase of 240 runs, Dhoni initially attempted to stitch a partnership with all-rounder Hardik Pandya (32) adopting a cautious attitude. Some of the fans blamed Dhoni for batting slowly, which put pressure of Jadeja and he lost his wicket at a crucial stage of the match.

The wicketkeeper-batsman played a crucial role in the Indian chase, as Ravindra Jadeja took on the New Zealand bowlers and smashed an wonderful 77, adding 116 runs with Dhoni.

Dhoni faced criticism during the ongoing World Cup for scoring runs at a slow pace.
