Honor 9 Lite to go on 5th Flash Sale Today, 6th February

This is the first time Honor has done such an all-display handset, and the Honor 9 wins the award for the cheapest 18:9 smartphone on the market. The Honor 7C will feature four cameras.

The Honor 9 Lite improves on the Honor 9's 5.15in Full HD screen with a larger 5.65in 18:9 FullView HD Display that reaches the edges of the glass chassis. The phone can be had in Honor's nearly trademark Sapphire Blue color, although it is also available in Midnight Black and Glacier Grey. The rear side features a dual camera comprising of 13MP and 2MP sensors with support for PDAF and LED Flash.

Honor 9 Lite is a budget smartphone priced at Rs 10,999 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant, while the 4GB RAM and 64GB version is priced Rs 14,999. The Huawei subsidiary, which launched Honor 9i and Honor 9 Lite with a quad-camera setup - two cameras in the rear and two cameras on the front - seems to be prepping to launch another quad-camera device. Created to undercut flagships like Apple's iPhone X by a decent margin, and even mid-rangers like the Honor 9 and OnePlus 5T, it takes advantage of an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 - the same chipset found in the Honor 7X - and includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. Now, it isn't as generously well-specced as its older sibling, but the 13- and 2-megapixel rear-facing snappers should do just the job for your Instagram snaps. As with the Honor 7X before it, it is a little disappointing that the Honor 9 Lite has to make do with a MicroUSB 2.0 charging port instead of USB Type-C.

The Honor 9 Lite comes running Android 8.0 Oreo, as well as Honor's EMUI 8.0 user interface. That being said, it shouldn't be a deal-breaker for its target audience this time around. Announced at an event in London earlier today, the Honor 9 Lite is on sale now for £199 in the United Kingdom, and €229 in Germany, Italy, France, and Spain via Honor's online store. Besides, the smartphone offers Hybrid Dual SIM, 4G with VoLTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1 and Global Positioning System. When not immersed in the world of Android and gadgets, he's an avid sports fan, and like all South Africans, he loves a good Braai (BBQ).
