Apple's 2018 iPhone 11 line-up looks like it'll feature three phones

Later this year, Apple is expected to introduce three new iPhones: a 5.8-inch OLED model, a 6.5-inch OLED model, and a 6.1-inch LCD model.

The analyst says the phone will tally 62 million by the time the news models roll around, down from a previous forecast of 80m.

I'm not convinced the iPhone X's days are numbered. "He predicts the iPhone X will be "end of life" in the summer of 2018, instead of being retained as a lower-cost option in the following year". Remember, the handset wasn't released until November 3, meaning we haven't even seen actual iPhone sales numbers that include a full quarter for this model.

The iPhone X might not be selling that goodWhat's more, the design of the flashy iPhone X is said to be another possible reason for its under-performing sales: the notch at the front is said to be irking the local consumers, who have a thing for large-screen devices as it's synonymous with wasted space. In the past year, many Chinese smartphone owners waited much longer before upgrading. Apple usually keeps around flagships at reduced prices for a few generations. Still, largely thanks to steady iPhone 7 and 6s demand, the family's total sales are projected to grow by up to 5 percent for the year's first half compared to the same period of 2017.

As we detailed earlier today, reputed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently issued a new investor note claiming that Apple's 2018 lineup will feature two brand new versions of the iPhone X. Interestingly, one model is said to feature a 6.5-inch OLED display while the second will reportedly boast a 6.1-inch LCD display.

But that, KGI notes, is where the iPhone X Plus comes in.

At the top of the range, KGI says, there'll be a 6.5-inch OLED model, potentially an iPhone X Plus.

Obviously, the iPhone X's commercial success is not expected to improve in the April - June 2018 timeframe, when shipments could fall to a measly 13 million units. This beats the growth estimates of the smartphone industry, which swing between -5% to +5% shipments. Note that Apple's fiscal calendar is a quarter ahead of the calendar, and KGI uses the normal calendar.

And the long-rumored iPhone X Plus.
