Amelia Blake, 22, was found dead inside the upstairs apartment of a Newtown block overlooking King Street on January 12, according to The Daily Telegraph.

"Police attended and discovered the bodies of a woman, aged in her 20s, and a man, aged in his 30s", police said.

"We are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of our much-loved daughter and sister Amelia, who will be truly missed by all who knew her", they said.

Ms Blake had recently worked on a fruit farm in a rural town in Victoria, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Following the discovery by police, friends of Ms Blake took to social media to share their grief.

"This has broken my heart into a million pieces.it's nearly unimaginable that I'll never see you again, my dear friend", Mr Collington posted on Facebook.

Police have establised Strike Force Tenisonwood, with officers from the Newtown Local Area Command and the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad set to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

She had reportedly suffered a number of injuries including head wounds.

A neighbour, who only gave his name as Angelo, said: "I'd guess there were four to six people living in there, I see the owner once every blue moon when he comes to collect rent or whatever".

On her Instagram page, Ms Blake spoke fondly about her desire to travel. Just a lovely girl'.

Another said Gurung was "weird", adding: "She worked here for a waitress for about two months and he was a chef and that's when they met".

They said the crime scene would be maintained until results from the post-mortem came back. No other suspects were being sought, a police spokeswoman said.

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) confirmed it was providing support to the family of Ms Blake.

'They kept to themselves.

Shocked former colleagues who worked with the pair at Fogo Brazilia Churrasco have since revealed that Gurung stalked Amelia and was always asking for money.

Another neighbour of the young couple, Jason You, said he heard a loud "boom" about 5pm on Friday - shortly before the bodies were discovered.
