Definitive Edition locked in for February 20 launch — Age of Empires

One of the most classic real-time-strategy games ever made has been completely revamped and is on its way back to the world of PC gamers.

We're excited to get Age of Empires: Definitive Edition into the hands of players this February and we thank you for your patience while we put the finishing touches on it!

Fans of the original can rejoice, for the game will be updated and remastered come this February with Age of Empires: Definitive Edition.

Age of Empires: Definitive Edition offers completely rebuilt assets, with graphics in 4K, local LAN support, and multiplayer functionality through Xbox Live, along with a new soundtrack, a brand new UI, and better gameplay options.

The Age of Empires: Definitive Edition beta will kick off on January 29, with sign ups open until January 25. Everything needed to be as good as you remembered it (or better!) to deliver a compelling RTS experience 20 years after its original release. The campaign and scenario editor has also been updated, as players will be able to create their own content and share them through the official Age of Empires website.

"The idea is to "[retain] the original feel and unique gameplay that made Age of Empires so special for so many". If you're interested in trying out the beta then you can head to AgeOfEmpires.com and sign-up.
