Announcing the December Update to Lightroom

There's the new Auto Settings that takes advantage of the advanced neural network by Adobe Sensei.

Today Adobe are proud to release updates to the entire Lightroom CC ecosystem, including for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, and the web, as well as updates to Lightroom Classic CC and Adobe Camera Raw. The shortcuts are selfie, Lightroom camera, and add photos.

Lightroom CC is getting a Tone Curve tool that lets photographers have precise control over tonality, contrast, and color balance. The Auto mode will study objects in a photo and automatically fine tune colour, exposure, contrast, black levels in a given manner it thinks suitable for the image. This includes split toning and tone curve which are popular image retouching features and have finally found their way to Lightroom CC.

Lightroom CC now enables you to adjust the capture time, for both single photos as well as a set of photos, providing relief for those times that you forgot to change your camera's time or time zone settings. What all the three apps have in common is that they will be receiving the new "Auto Settings" feature which utilizes Adobe's Sensei artificial intelligence technology and is supposed to provide better improved photos every time it is used. Lightroom has also introduced a new full screen view for users to have a closer look at their photos and have a much more immersive experience while editing their photos. There is also now better emphasis on storage as well, giving users better control of how they want to store their photos. Another iOS exclusive feature is an improvement in the quality of images captured in HDR.

As well as updating the Auto system in Lightroom, Adobe has added support for new cameras and lenses in Adobe Camera Raw (including those who have a perpetual license for Lightroom 6) and there have been a few tool updates in the desktop version of Lightroom CC as well as the Lightroom apps.

"Based on your feedback, we've made it easier to remove individual sample points", Adobe says.
