Microsoft Surface Pro with LTE Advanced ships to business customers in December

Microsoft today announced that the long-awaited Surface Pro with LTE will be available starting in December for business customers.

We had earlier reported that Microsoft will be soon announcing its new Surface Pro with LTE advanced support. That's Panos Panay, head of devices at Microsoft.

"We are at the edge of a major technology shift towards more intelligent computing - one fueled by the rise of data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning", the company said in a blog post. The newest model will begin shipping to business customers in December.

Microsoft makes the bold claim that the LTE Advanced modem used in the Surface Pro makes it "the fastest LTE-enabled laptop in its class".

Microsoft may not have been lucky with mobile phones, but its Surface line-up is getting a good response from consumers. Microsoft hasn't said how long the battery of the LTE version will last, so for now we'll assume it will have the same claimed 13.5 hours, however in our review of the non-LTE version, we weren't able to match the claims. Some owners also considered the original Surface Book to be rather heavy for a portable device, and the weight remains unchanged for the Surface Book 2. It has a 12.3-inch PixelSense display and is powered by Intel 7th-gen Kaby lake processor.

And those hoping to use the Surface Book 2 as their primary work device will be pleased. This time, the 13.5-inch device is joined by a 15-inch model that provides users with a bigger canvas for their work or their creative endeavors (it also supports the company's Surface Pen on-screen stylus and Surface Dial peripheral). The cheapest model costs $1,499, while the most powerful variant is priced at $3,299.
