Far Cry 5 Friends for Hire Trailer and Co-Op Details

Build your character and choose your adventure in the largest customizable Far Cry game ever!

A hilarious new Far Cry 5 trailer showed off a different look at the highly anticipated new chapter to the franchise. This trailer comes from today's Paris Games Week event, and it focuses on co-op gameplay.

In an interview published on Official PlayStation Magazine UK (issue #142, December 2017), Ubisoft's Game Director Dan Hay explained that the development team strived to retain the sanctity of a single player story, something that's far from a given in a co-op mode. For example, if you are on the 3rd level of the game and you help your friend finish the last level in their world you will not get progress in your world.

This means that you and a friend can get into a plane in Far Cry 5 and have a gunner shooting around you, or have tractor races, or shoot from the same auto and defend your friend. In Far Cry 3, for example, the co-op mode had its own, original plot.

On Far Cry 4, we kind of sequestered the player to the open world. This includes quests, outposts, and other missions completed while playing as a co-op partner. Like Far Cry 5 in Far Cry 4 co-op the host player progressed. Showing off huge adventures, weapons galore, and some good old fashioned off-roading; Far Cry 5 doesn't just promise an immersive story of pride and patriotism, but also an awesome experience for gamers to share.
