NBA playoffs get underway on Saturday

The Golden State Warriors have not only earned the best record in the Western Conference in each of the three years under head coach Steve Kerr but have also achieved the top mark in the National Basketball Association every season during that stretch.

That was 2016, when the actions of Green - he of two connections to Steven Adams' groin and one to that of LeBron James, the latter costing Green Game 5 of the Finals - became the headline, and a daily topic of social media debate. To get an idea of whether any might be on the horizon this year however we turned to "NBA 2K17" to simulate them. And, oh by the way, they led the league in a pair of defensive categories - blocks and steals - that adds critical possessions to their All-Star shooters, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Durant.

A year after notching an National Basketball Association record-setting 73 regular season wins, the Warriors are once again at the top of the Western Conference.

However, this year's Golden State team is different.

"I'm not going to harp on about what happened in the regular season through injuries, through good wins, through bad losses", James told reporters on Thursday. And if Portland is going to succeed in doing so, their frontcourt must make a difference. There was a freshness about it.

With that in mind, let's take a quick look at some of the most-used lineups from this year's postseason teams.

And lately, Cleveland hasn't rocked.

The Cavaliers are the defending NBA champs and they of course have James, who is trying to lead his team to a seventh consecutive NBA Finals.

"I think through everything that went on with our team, we're in a position where we can do something special still", James said. Other short odds to win are the Boston Celtics (+650), the Toronto Raptors (+700) and the Washington Wizards (+1000). No. 8 Chicago BullsNo. On April 2, the two engaged in an epic 135-130 double overtime win for Cleveland. On the other hand, the Indiana Pacers have seemed sluggish since the beginning of the season.

Most entertaining matchup: (6) Oklahoma City vs. (3) Houston. No. 6 Milwaukee BucksNo.

The Warriors are a 1 seed, and that bodes well for winning it all. The Warriors will try to carry that momentum into a strong start in the postseason, beginning with a first-round matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. No. 7 Memphis GrizzliesNo. Harden and Westbrook will both average triple-doubles and that final game in Houston promises to be electrifying but ultimately the Rockets will have too much for Oklahoma.

Kevin Durant has returned to form and fitness following his extended injury lay-off, draining 29 points in 27 minutes during a routine 109-94 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. Either way, Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs were made for the postseason.

From 1995-96 through 1997-98, the Bulls went 248-56 including the regular season and playoffs (win percentage of.816). The regular season is over and the race for the NBA Championship is alive. Durant was in the MVP conversation before he got injured, and he remains the NBA's best pure scorer, averaging 25.1 points on just 16.5 shots per game this season. Butler joined James, Westbrook and Harden as the only players to average at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists per game, posting career-highs in all three categories.

Make no mistake: Everyone is chasing Golden State.

The Cavs fought the Warriors for six games in the 2015 Finals with Love and Kyrie Irving sidelined for essentially the entire series.
