Maryland company surprises employees with $10 million bonus

"I couldn't think of a better way to show it".

St John Properties, a commercial real estate company in the USA gave $10 million (approximately Rs 71 crore) in bonuses to its 198 employees.

The bonuses were based on the number of years the employees had been at the company.

St. John made the announcement December 7 during the company's annual holiday party.

The bonuses celebrate a company milestone - developing 20 million square feet of office space, retail and warehouses. "It is life-changing".

But six-figure bonuses are in store for some employees - who are set to receive more than $250,000.

Company founder and chairman Edward St. John said that the amount each employee will receive depends on tenure - but most will take home an average around $50,000, the New York Post reported.

"We wanted to do something to thank all our employees for helping us achieve our goal, and we wanted to do something big", Mr Maykrantz told CNN. "Every professional at St. John Properties is committed to excellence every day", said St. John.

The employees each opened an envelope at the same time that contained the amount of their individual bonus, some of which were upward of $270,000.

One company's employees just got the surprise of a lifetime! They are the foundation and the reason behind the success of our company.
