White House Christmas Decorations, Melania Unveils Patriotic Theme

Patriotism is the theme of Christmas at the White House this year.

The traditional gingerbread White House shares its stage with American landmarks including the Statue of Liberty and the Golden Gate Bridge.

The First Lady, 49, shared a video of the look on her official Twitter and Instagram accounts earlier today.

Melania Trump has dazzled Americans every year with the White House Christmas decorations, making The East Colonnade a must-have photo for visitors for the Christmas season. Trump wrote, referencing this year's theme.

The East Wing's Gold Star Family Tree, in honor of those who lost an immediate family member serving in the armed forces, is decorated with gold stars and red, white and blue ribbon.

The gingerbread White House, built from 200 pounds (90 kilograms) of gingerbread and slathered in 25 pounds (11 kilograms) of royal icing and 35 pounds (16 kilograms) of chocolate, showcases the South Portico, including a staircase made using angel hair, fettucine and spaghetti.

The almost minute long video featured Melania Trump putting the finishing touches on several trees and walking through the White House admiring the decorations.

As is tradition, volunteers from all 50 states descended on the White House like elves, hanging the 800 feet of garlands, tying 15,000 bows and stringing more than 2,500 strands of lights.

The White House band played Christmas music as photographers, reporters, and videographers got their first look for the annual Christmas decorations personally curated by First Lady Melania Trump.
