Helen Mirren on being mistaken for Keanu Reeves' girlfriend

"I do know Keanu very well".

Dame Helen Mirren said it was "very flattering" to be confused with Keanu Reeves' new love interest.

Mirren, 74, told Entertainment Tonight (ET) at the premiere of her new movie, The Good Liar, on Wednesday that she did not mind the comparisons between Grant and her.

Netizens have been quick to spot the resemblance between the silver-haired Grant and Mirren, who won the Best Actress at the Oscars for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen (2006). Mirren told ET about the online commotion.

They wanted to keep their relationship quiet, a People source said Tuesday, but "Keanu wants to openly share his life with her".

I mean, why didn't we get this story ourselves, direct from Keanu? Well, there's her marriage to Hackford, of course, but there's someone else too: Aquaman star Jason Momoa, whom Mirren admitted to secretly photographing on a flight to Los Angeles in 2018.

Needless to say, a large portion of the internet thought Keanu was dating Helen, because headlines read "Keanu Reveals New Girlfriend" and a quick glance at the picture showed him next to someone who looked like Helen Mirren (and why read a single word of the actual article?). "He did a film with my husband and he is just the most adorable, lovely person", the English actress added, referring to the 1997 horror-thriller The Devil's Advocate, directed by her partner Taylor Hackford, whom she'd been married to for 22 years.

Grant is a visual artist whose work has been exhibited in prestigious galleries across the world including Los Angeles, New York, and Paris.

Reeves and Grant are long-time friends with the duo previously attending public events together and even collaborated on several books. They started a publishing company, X Artists' Books, in 2017.
